All dance classes help to build self-confidence, improve coordination, develop stage presence, and generally provide a fun atmosphere for students and staff.
 
 
*All female dancers are required to have the following tights for recitals:
 
Intro Ballet/Tap, Junior Ballet/Tap: Capezio Ultra Soft Footed Tights, Light Suntan
 
All Other Classes: Capezio Child Ultra Soft Transition Tights, Light Suntan/Capezio Adult Ultra Soft Transition Tights, Light Suntan

Intro Ballet/Tap, Junior Ballet/Tap
Class Description:  Ballet/Tap combination classes are a great way for students to experience two different types of dance in a one-hour instructional time. Basic tap and ballet skills and techniques are introduced at level 1 and difficulty increases with each level.

What to Wear for Intro Ballet/Tap, Junior Ballet/Tap: pink or light suntan tights, leotard or leotard/skirt, hair up and out of face, no jewelry and no jeans.  Shoes: Freestyle by Danskin Girls Tap Shoes, Black (available at Target), Freestyle by Danskin Girls Ballet Slippers, Pink (available at Target)

Ballet (Intermediate, Preteen, Teen, Teen II, Teen III, Teen IV)
Class Description: Ballet classes focus on building strength, poise, proper body alignment, turnout, and extension in an expressive atmosphere.  Ballet is the basis of all dance disciplines and is recommended for all students.

What to Wear: Light suntan tights, leotard, no jewelry, hair in ponytail or bun. Tank tops, shorts, and ballet skirts may be worn over tights and leotard, but no baggy clothing as the body lines must be visible.  Shoes: Bloch Adult "Elastosplit X" Canvas Split-Sole Ballet Slipper, Pink -or- Bloch Child "Pump" Canvas Ballet Slipper, Pink (only for students taking these classes whose feet are still too small for Elastosplit shoes)


Pointe (Beginning/Intermediate, Advanced)
Class Description: Dancing on pointe is the act of standing on the tips of the toes while performing steps from ballet. Also known as pointe work, it is performed using hard–toed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe requires strength and skill, so prior permission from instructor is required before students begin taking pointe classes.  For beginning and intermediate pointe dancers, either two ballet classes or a ballet class and a turns and leaps class are required along with pointe class.  For advanced pointe dancers, a ballet class is required along with ballet class.

What to Wear: light suntan tights, leotard, no jewelry, hair in ponytail or bun. Tank tops, shorts, and ballet skirts may be worn over tights and leotard, but no baggy clothing as the body lines must be visible.  Shoes: pink satin pointe shoes, brand and fit must be approved by instructor.


Tap (Intermediate, Teen)
Class Description: Tap classes will incorporate both rhythm and Broadway tap styles. Classes are designed to refine tap skills while moving beyond tap fundamentals. Focusing on faster and more intricate footwork while preserving quality and clarity of sound.

What to Wear: light suntan tights, any color leotard, jazz pants, leggings, or shorts with tights. No jeans or jewelry.  Shoes: Capezio Adult Cadence Tap Shoe, Black/Capezio Child Flexmaster Split-Sole, Lace-Up Tap Shoe, Black


Hip-Hop (Beginning/Intermediate,Teen)
Class Description: Hip-Hop combines jazz, street, and funk styles in a high energy class, developing technique, self-confidence, and stage performance.

What to Wear: loose-fitting clothing that is easy to move in, black jazz sneakers, hair up and out of face.  Knees must be covered by pants or tights for floor work. No shorts; no jeans; no jewelryShoes: Capezio Child "Fierce" Dance Sneaker, Black/Capezio Adult "Fierce" Dance Sneaker, Black


Jazz (Intermediate, Preteen, Teen, Teen II, Teen III)
Class Description: Jazz is an athletic class focused on improving technique, strength, and flexibility which will enhance students’ jumps, turns, and stage performance.

What to Wear: cropped pants or leggings, light suntan tights, tank tops, shorts(only with tights), form-fitting shirts, hair up and out of face. No Jeans and no jewelry.  Shoes: Capezio Child E-Series Slip On Jazz Shoe, Black/Capezio Adult E-Series Slip On Jazz Shoe, Black


Modern (Intermediate, Preteen, Teen II, Teen III)
Class Description: Modern dance explores movement, space, rhythm, and the dancer’s own creativity. Modern classes emphasize floor work, flow, partnering, and expressive movement.

What to Wear: Cropped pants or leggings, light suntan tights, tank tops, shorts(only with tights), form-fitting shirts, hair up and out of face.  Knees must be covered for floor work with pants or tights for floor work.  No jeans or jewelryShoes: no shoes required for modern classes


Broadway Jazz
Class Description: Broadway jazz combines jazz technique with acting and theatricality with a big emphasis on personality and performance.  Choreography is performed to broadway songs.

What to Wear: cropped pants or leggings, light suntan tights, tank tops, shorts(only with tights), form-fitting shirts, hair up and out of face. No Jeans and no jewelry.  Shoes: Capezio Child E-Series Slip On Jazz Shoe, Black/Capezio Adult E-Series Slip On Jazz Shoe, Black

Clogging (Preteen, Teen)
Class Description: Clogging is similar to tap with a different rhythm.  It originates from Celtic dancing.  Clogging shoes have two loose sets of taps for maximum sound.

What to Wear: light suntan tights, any color leotard or tank top, jazz pants, leggings, or shorts with tights. No jeans or jewelry.  Shoes: Bloch Child Tapflex Lace Up Tap Shoes, Black with Stephen's Stompers attached/Bloch Adult Tapflex Lace Up Tap Shoes, Black with Stephen's Stompers Bucks attached


Company (Junior, Senior)
Class Description: Members of all of our companies are selected by audition.  All company dancers are talented and dedicated individuals with performance experience.  Companies perform at various venues in the community Company class is a separate cost and is not included in class packages.  and attend at least one competition per season.  Most choreography is modern based.  All company dancers are required to take a ballet technique class in addition to company class.  Company class is a separate cost and is not included in class packages.

What to Wear: Cropped pants or leggings, light suntan tights, tank tops, shorts(only with tights), form-fitting shirts, hair up and out of face. Knees must be covered by either pants or tights.  No jeans or jewelry.  No costumes are purchased for performances.  Shoes: Bloch Eclipse Canvas Lyrical Shoes


 

Turns and Leaps 
Class Description: Technique class that provides an opportunity for dancers to improve their strength, basic skills, and flexibility.

What to Wear: Cropped pants or leggings, light suntan tights, tank tops, shorts(only with tights), form-fitting shirts, hair up and out of face.  Knees must be covered by pants or tights for floor work.  No jeans or jewelry.  Shoes: Bloch Eclipse Canvas Lyrical Shoe or Bloch Adult "Elastosplit X" Canvas Split-Sole Ballet Slipper, Pink
