Ballet/Tap combo

Ballet/Tap combination classes are a great way for students to experience two different types of dance during a one-hour instructional time. Basic tap and ballet skills and techniques are introduced at the intro level and difficulty increases at the junior level.

What To Wear:

  • tights

  • leotard or leotard dress

  • no big jewelry or jeans

  • no sweatpants, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, or baggy t-shirts are allowed

  • no crop tops

  • hair up and out of face

  • Freestyle by Danskin Girls’ Tap Shoes, Black (available at Target)

  • Freestyle by Danskin Ballet Girls’ Ballet Slippers, Pink (available at Target)

  • please no tie tap shoes—velcro or elastic only

Ballet (Intermediate I, Intermediate II, Preteen, Teen, Advanced Teen)

Ballet classes focus on building strength, poise, proper body alignment, turnout, and extension in an expressive atmosphere.  Ballet is the basis of all dance disciplines and is recommended for all students.

  • leotard or form-fitting tank top/short sleeved t-shirt

  • no big jewelry or jeans

  • no sweatpants, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, or baggy t-shirts are allowed

  • no crop tops

  • Capezio Child Hanami Canvas Split-Sole Ballet Slipper, Light Pink (only for dancers whose feet are not yet big enough for the Elastosplit style mentioned above)

Pointe (Beginning/Intermediate, Advanced)

Dancing on pointe is the act of standing on the tips of the toes while performing steps from ballet. Also known as pointe work, it is performed using hard–toed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe requires strength and skill, so prior permission from instructor is required before students begin taking pointe classes. Those taking a pointe class must also take a ballet class.

Tap (Intermediate, Preteen/teen)

Tap classes incorporate both rhythm and Broadway tap styles. Classes are designed to refine skills while moving beyond fundamentals. Tappers focus on intricate footwork while preserving quality and clarity of sound.

What To Wear:

  • tights/biker or spandex shorts/leggings

  • leotard or form-fitting tank top/short sleeved t-shirt

  • no big jewelry or jeans

  • no sweatpants, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, or baggy t-shirts are allowed

Hip-Hop (Beginning/Intermediate, Preteen/Teen)

Hip-Hop combines jazz, street, and funk styles in a high energy class that develops technique, self-confidence, and stage performance.

What To Wear:

  • tights/biker shorts or spandex shorts/leggings

  • leotard or form-fitting tank top/short sleeved t-shirt

  • no big jewelry or jeans

  • no sweatpants, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, or baggy t-shirts are allowed

Jazz (beginning, Intermediate I, Intermediate II, Preteen, advanced Teen)

Jazz is an athletic class focused on improving technique, strength, and flexibility, which will enhance students’ jumps, turns, and stage performance.

What To Wear:

  • tights/biker or spandex shorts/leggings

  • leotard or form-fitting tank top/short sleeved t-shirt

  • no big jewelry or jeans

  • no sweatpants, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, or baggy t-shirts are allowed

  • no crop tops

  • Capezio adult E-Series slip on jazz shoe, black

Modern (Preteen, Teen, advanced Teen)

Modern dance explores movement, space, rhythm, and the dancer’s own creativity. Modern classes emphasize floor work, partnering, and expressive movement.

What To Wear:

  • tights/biker or spandex shorts/leggings

  • leotard or form-fitting tank top/short sleeved t-shirt

  • no big jewelry or jeans

  • no sweatpants, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, or baggy t-shirts are allowed

  • no crop tops

  • no shoes required for modern classes

Broadway Jazz

Broadway Jazz is a form of theatrical performance that combines acting and dance. The story and emotional content of a musical are communicated through the music, movement, and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole.

What To Wear:

  • tights/biker or spandex shorts/leggings

  • leotard or form-fitting tank top/short sleeved t-shirt

  • no big jeans or jewelry

  • no sweatpants, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, or baggy t-shirts are allowed

Senior Company

Members of all of our company are selected by audition.  Company dancers are talented and dedicated individuals with performance experience.  Companies perform at various venues in the community and learn several pieces per semester for recitals. All company dancers are required to take a ballet technique class in addition to company class.  Company class is a separate cost and is not included in class packages.

What To Wear:

  • shorts with tights/leggings (knees must be covered with pants or tights for floor work)

  • leotard or form-fitting tank top/short sleeved t-shirt

  • no big jewelry or jeans

  • no sweatpants, crewneck sweatshirts, hoodies, or baggy t-shirts are allowed
